Job Title: Wastewater Operator
Location: Bedminster, New Jersey (Environmental Disposal Corp.)
Schedule: 40 hour work week: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm (30 minute lunch)
SUMMARY:
This position is fixed at Environmental Disposal Corp. in Bedminster, NJ and serving NSU NJ Operations. The operator is an independent well-organized initiative-taker able to manage his/her own time to complete assigned tasks in their given allotted time.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as pH, dissolved oxygen, ammonia, alkalinity, etc., to monitor process conditions
Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc.
Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of safety hazards
Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors, or regulatory personnel
Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
Operate the plant to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
Maintain accurate records for equipment run times, chemical inventory, timesheets, expenses, etc.
Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 21 years of age or older
1 year of wastewater experience, preferred
40-hour work week: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30 pm (30-minute lunch)
Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested
Must be able to work overtime as required
Must be able to participate in 24 hour on call rotation
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
Valid Driver’s License
NJ Wastewater license preferred
