The Senior Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing and maintaining the infrastructure and facilities equipment for all sites. They need to be able to analyze current facilities and recommend innovative solutions with safety, energy usage, and sustainability in mind. This is a hands-on position.
Projects will be implemented using solid project management processes to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction deliverables. Engineering/reengineering activities will be characterized by accuracy, durability, efficiency and regulatory compliance. (FDA, OSHA, regulatory requirements related to the nutraceutical industry, etc.). Propose, design, implement, and validate facility/infrastructure improvements throughout the buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan and implement the design of plants, offices, and production lines in order to maximize the use of available space and improve production efficiency
- Estimate costs related to layout design, including equipment and materials, labor, etc. and monitors the construction process.
- Must be able to establish a long-term plan for infrastructure and facilities equipment replacement and ideally introduces new technology to drive improvements in efficiency and utility usage.
- Perform process and system evaluation of MEP and other facility support processes. Identify, define, and lead continuous improvement projects to improve overall efficiencies and reduce downtime and waste in these areas.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives by leading and supporting projects using Lean and Six Sigma principles as required.
- Responsibility to manage facility-related capital projects, including project definition, scope, cost & ROI analysis, scheduling, layout, construction/installation supervision, punch list, and controlling and reporting activities.
- Strong working knowledge of Building Automation systems.
- Develop relationships with outside contractors, equipment suppliers, machine and fabrication shops, etc. to outsource design and fabrication work using minimal internal resources.
- Review equipment and facility layouts, analyze space utilization to reorganize workflow, restructure job duties, maximize operating efficiencies, and address ergonomic issues.
- Lead Sustainability efforts to support Schwabe corporate GHG initiatives. Includes staying on top of utility trends and developments.
- Ability to conduct energy audits on existing buildings is desired.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; and a minimum of 7 years minimum related experience is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. PE license preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong Working knowledge of MEP Systems
- Education and experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is strongly preferred.
- Direct project management experience with capital projects as they relate to new equipment, systems, and processes from project conception through completion is required.
- Education and experience with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project is preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar computer design programs is required.
- Working knowledge of Revit/NavisWorks (3D Architectural software) a plus.
