Acquisition Readiness (AR30) IT Division at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona is a matrix organization with over one hundred team members collaborating across IT Project Management, Software Development, Data Management, and Infrastructure and Cybersecurity branches to accomplish our mission in developing and managing innovative information technology business solutions to support decision makers with accurate and timely information. AR30 is seeking a well-qualified Data Architect to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in Norco, CA. The selected candidate will be required to work full-time. Currently NSWC Corona supports a hybrid on-site/telework flexible schedule. Roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
- Drive and coordinate the technical execution of enterprise data warehouse solutions and services that includes understanding business requirement, solution design, Data Extraction, Transformation and Integration architecture, development, testing, deployment and ongoing operational support
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to develop an in-depth understanding of data flows, business processes, and data quality requirements
- Work with data source teams to define data ingestion requirements for structured, unstructured, & semi-structured data
- Develop relational and dimensional data models
- Design and implement scalable, robust data architecture solutions
- Develop ETL processes for accurate and timely data integration
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in written and verbal formats.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 3 years of experience in data architecture and database design
Technical Abilities
- Experience with software development life cycle and database coding or scripting experience
- Expert knowledge of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
- Experience designing data models and database schemas
- Experience developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- Advanced skills in SQL
- Experience in indexing, normalization, and performance tuning
- Experience in creating tables, constraints, views, stored procedures in Oracle Database 19c
- Experience with one of the major cloud infrastructure providers
Clearance and Access
- The ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret security clearance; maintaining the required security clearance will be a condition of continued employment.
Non-Technical Abilities and Certifications
- Experience working in an Agile software development framework
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience giving technical presentation to technical and non-technical attendees.
- Experience providing surge support to other programs as needed.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information in a concise and articulate manner
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to work after hours and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in data architecture and database design
- Experience developing & maintaining ETL or ELT pipelines for data warehousing
- Proficiency with cloud technologies
- Experience in data visualization strategies, model based system engineering
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
- Experience with enterprise scale cloud and hybrid infrastructures for data metrics, architecture designs, migrations, and technology ownership
- Experience with Databricks, Hadoop, Spark, PySpark, Kafka, NoSQL
Salary Range: $80,000 USD - $157,000 USD Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
