Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Communications Specialist in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
A communications specialist manages and develops an organization's communication strategy. They create and implement communication plans to reach target audiences via social media, press releases, and newsletters. Communications specialists also collaborate with other departments to align all communications with the organization's goals. They work independently to produce high-quality content and enhance the organization's reputation. Additionally, they analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to provide program leadership.
- Understands and maintains brand guidelines.
- Develops and manages crisis communication plan.
- Plans, manages, edits, and writes narratives for Navarro-ATL to support strategic priorities.
- Identifies stories and produces high quality written materials for Navarro-ATL electronic, print, web, video, and media outlets.
- Provides writing for project stories including, but not limited to, research news and translating complex business initiatives or analytical research into language clear and comprehensible to readers unfamiliar with the subject matter.
- Develops and maintains relationships with client, other Hanford contractors, staff and members of the local and national media to provide media relations services to advance public awareness of Navarro-ATL’s mission and achievements.
- Assists in planning, developing collateral material, and implementing media relations and internal communications to support various events, including but not limited to, press conferences, symposia, town halls, and leadership internal communication.
- Develops and executes new and complex messaging for employees, partners, clients, and other targeted audiences.
- Coordinates and leads the design and copywriting of materials.
- Weaves key messages into ongoing communication channels and ensures synergy between company, client, and corporate communications.
- Keeps management informed as to issues that are in the public point of view and publicizing initiative to assure adequate participation and customer satisfaction.
- Attains employee and/or public feedback and points of view on critical organizational issues and perceptions; communicates these perceptions accurately to upper management for response. Monitors and responds to employee feedback.
- Interviews source persons and researches subjects in order to obtain information and verify facts.
- Leads and/or supports event planning activities.
- Represents and may act as a spokesperson for Navarro-ATL.
- Recommends and maintains editorial policy and branding guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in a related discipline and at least 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Strong understanding of Associated Press style guidelines.
- Combination of investigative, planning, management, and social media experience and skills.
- Working Knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in corporate communications.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Grade 16: $86,138 - $108,513
Grade 17: $94,650 - $119,250
The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
In accordance with the Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc (Navarro) salary determination process, Navarro takes into consideration the level of assigned job duties and responsibilities and the candidate’s education, training, and/or experience relative to internal peers and the external labor market. A candidate's salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
