Position Overview
The Machinist runs a variety of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based machines within a high-volume production machining process while adhering to quality operating system requirements & makes adjustments to machines as per the control plan guidelines to ensure product quality.
Schedule: Monday – Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay: $23.00 Per Hour
6-Month Progression: $24.50
12-Month Progression: $26.00
18-Month Progression: $28.00
24-Month Progression: 30.25
Responsibilities
- Monitors computer screens and interprets data to determine that process is running according to control plan
- Responds to machine faults and takes corrective action
- Troubleshoots work-related problems and makes repairs on the spot as needed
- Documents rework and scrap using the non-conforming material procedure
- Observes tool wear detection and makes tooling changes when required
- Works in teams to identify and implement process improvements and error proofing procedures
- Instructs and certifies other machine technicians to ensure compliance with quality operating standards
- Verifies compliance with process instructions and control plans, reports deviations to Group Leader
- Enters defect data into the computer
- Verifies gage calibration requirements for engine components
- Anticipates potential production problems by proactively reviewing equipment condition and initiating corrective action when needed.
- Monitors special characteristics to ensure compliance with control plan requirements
- Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries and complies with all safety and environmental requirements
- Uses computers to interpret and evaluate production data
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Additional Requirements
- Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. - Must be willing to work any shift
- Must achieve an acceptable score on a situational/skills based interview
- Physical requirements (ability to the following for up to 10 hours per shift):
- Walk, sit, stand
- Lift, carry, push or pull up to 20 pounds
- Head/neck movement
- Reach outward or above the shoulder
- Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, fumes, smoke and gases, solvents, paint, grease and oils, radiant energy, and slippery surfaces
Experience operating CNC equipment
Or
Experience operating Industrial Automation & Equipment
Or
Experience operating Industrial Process Control Systems
Desired Skills
- Positive attitude, ethics and International values which support our company’s values, and a health, high performance culture
- Technical College certificate in Machine Tool Technology or related discipline
- Experience working in a high-performance team environment
- Computer literate, Customer focused, Has a drive for results
- Metal cutting machining experience
- Experience reading manufacturing drawings including GD&T
- Experience operating production machinery
