Position: 1st Shift Staff RN
Location; Wilkesboro, NC (100% onsite with no travel expected.)
Duration; 6 months but will probably be extended to 12 months based on worker's good performance/reliability.
Shift Hours: 1 pm-9:30 pm shift position
Top 3 Duties/ Must haves:
- Schedule and/or perform assessments and testing according to SOPs.
- Collaborate with other health, safety, production, and human resource Team Members in a comprehensive approach to the Team Member's health.
- Communicate information regarding work-related injuries and illnesses to the Manager Nursing, Onsite Case Manager, Sr. Specialist Case Manager and the Workers' Compensation Department and other key stakeholders as necessary.
Job Description:
- Maintain and adhere to the Occupational Health Services Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Occupational Health Nursing Guidelines (OEM Guidelines), Best Practices and Standing Medication Orders (SMOs).
- Utilize the Nursing Process to meet the health care needs of facility Team Members.
- Recognize and understand the legal implications of accountability including, but not limited to, assigning and supervising activities performed by the Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, etc
- Provide nursing care for occupational and non-occupational conditions based upon the OEM Guidelines and SMOs.
- Provide emergency care/stabilization for injured/ill Team Members and secure appropriate transportation as required.
- Provide first aid treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.
- Determine the need for referral to outside health care agencies as identified in the OEM Guidelines.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered per SMOs and as ordered by a physician or other licensed healthcare provider.
- Schedule and/or perform assessments and testing according to SOPs.
- Collaborate with other health, safety, production, and human resource Team Members in a comprehensive approach to the Team Members health.
- Communicate information regarding work-related injuries and illnesses to the Manager Nursing, Onsite Case Manager, Sr. Specialist Case Manager and the Workers Compensation Department and other key stakeholders as necessary.
- Monitor and document the injured Team Member's condition, treatment, and progress on an on-going basis to evaluate appropriateness of treatment and if plan of care goals are being achieved and goals are still appropriate
- Participate in discussions with health care provider(s) and Team Member concerning: Team Member's status, progress, treatment options, physical limitations, appropriateness of job placement, available resources, prognosis, etc.
- Ensure any financial decision related to a workers compensation case are directed to the Tyson Foods Workers Compensation Department.
- Facilitate communication between Team Member/family, health care provider(s), claims adjuster/examiner, and the company. OHS Roles and Responsibilities Staff RN Revised 10/2021 Occupational Health Services Roles and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Operations Management, Human Resources, Safety and Ergonomics to determine appropriate jobs which may be performed within Team Member's work restrictions and/or in determination of ADAAA accommodation.
- Communicate to the treating physician the availability of restricted and full duty work and the physical demands of the positions
- Coordinate job placement and monitor Team Member's transition back to work to ensure assignment is progressing well and to resolve any problems that may arise.
- Conduct a minimum of weekly plant walkthroughs to ensure Team Member and supervisor compliance with prescribed modified/restricted duty job requirements and maintain appropriate documentation. 20. Participate in facility safety and ergonomic programs, meetings, and facility walk-through.
- Maintain Occupational Health Services records and reporting systems according to OSHA, State, company, and legal requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of Team Member health records per company policy.
- Assist with Team Member health promotion, education, and training programs.
- Maintain legal requirements for practice in accordance with State Nurse Practice Act and submit license renewal to Manager Nursing or Senior Supervisor Nursing as necessary. 25. Assume self-responsibility and accountability for professional growth and development.
- Maintain professionalism through dress code, code of conduct, nursing practice, and the Tyson 5Cs.
- Performs other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Requirements:
Qualification: At least 1 year of nursing experience. Recent grads with good experience during clinical rotations will be considered.
Preferred: Any ICU/ER experience, anyone with Urgent Care, med/surge, home health, primary care experience. Anyone good with assessments, military veterans.
Skills: Must be dependable, especially for 2nd shift. Well organized, good communication skills, basic computer skills. Ability to work independently.
