Overview
ICM offers a pathway to an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba. We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates seeking to teach pre-university and/or university-level courses in areas including Agricultural & Food Sciences; Arts; Business; Engineering; Environment, Earth, & Resources; Recreation Management & Community Development; or Science. Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and presenting lessons, tutorials, and workshops in an English-only format
- Maintaining regular office hours
- Constructing and marking appropriate assessment instruments (test, assignments, projects, examinations)
- Providing constructive feedback to students
- Invigilating the midterm and final exams
- Recommending a final grade for the course
- Completing an end-of-term report
- Adhering to course moderation requirements inclusive of liaising with the Course Coordinator
Essential Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
- Master’s degree, PhD Candidate, or PhD in relevant field
- Professional experience in a relevant discipline area
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the delivery of classes within a post-secondary teaching environment
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and meet agreed outcomes
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language
- Empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Degree or certificate in the professional practice of teaching and learning
- Exposure to the academic needs and requirements of international students
- Experience in a multicultural environment
