Basic Purpose
Responsibilities
- Edit copy written by Marketing Communications Specialists and freelancers to ensure accuracy, consistent brand voice, appropriate tone, adherence to style guidelines and channel best practices are employed.
- Provide guidance and feedback to team to assist in understanding and implementation of best practices.
- Provide consultative editorial development services to clients to ensure accuracy, consistent brand voice, appropriate tone, adherence to style guidelines and channel best practices are employed.
- Commission and coordinate content production by outside vendors and freelancers; edit drafts to fit business unit needs, improve readability and adherence to SEO best practices.
- Manage vendor relationships, including budget analysis and planning.
- Create conceptual approaches and copy solutions to promote Navy Federal products and services to increase member engagement, brand recognition and market penetration goals.
- Provide creative solutions for marketing campaigns, product launches and other initiatives.
- Keep current and inform team of industry standards, competitors’ practices, regulator and copyright considerations and remain up to day on market trends and communications best practices to enhance creativity and effectiveness of marketing communications.
- Be a resource for creation of campaign brief insights, key messages, value propositions/benefits statements and reasons to believe.
- Ensure communications content allows for latest SEM (Search Engine Marketing) and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) capabilities to support market penetration and align with marketing strategic initiatives.
- Ensure all communication is tailored by channel, by audience and according to strategy.
- Champion the Navy Federal brand; create, contribute, implement, update and train others (internal and external) on brand style guides, messaging documents and preparedness communications.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, communications/technology or the equivalent of training, education and experience.
- Proven experience editing and writing marketing communications.
- Advanced knowledge of marketing, advertising, direct response and corporate communications principles.
- Experience creating conceptual approaches and copy solutions for marketing communications in media to include SEM/SEO methodologies.
- Strong oral presentation skills and ability to articulate high-level concepts into understandable language
- Experience editing using AP Style and ability
- Experience writing for a variety of channels and ability to change tone while maintaining brand voice
- Experience managing/leading multiple projects, resolving conflicting request, meeting changing requirement/priorities and accomplish marketing goals
- Advanced organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to achieve project goals
- Advances relationship management skills to gain confidence/cooperation of team members, clients and outside vendors
- Experience with word processing and editorial applications software
- Desired – Advanced knowledge of all marketing communication production processes
- Desired – Advanced knowledge of financial services industry and products
- Desired – Experience working in a demanding creative environment similar to an advertising agency
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Location: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna VA 22180
Salary range: [$85,800] to [$121,300]
- As a COVID-19 safety measure, our employees must either provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or follow additional safety protocols, including testing
- Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position will be temporarily working from home with plans to return to campus at the desired location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations. The specific logistics for returning to campus will be determined at a future date by individual leadership.
