What are the responsibilities and job description for the Necropsy Tech position at NBR?
Role and Responsibilities
The Necropsy Technician role will include:
· Assist Necropsy set up (paperwork and physical set up)
· Note taking
· Euthanasia
· Perfusion of tissues
· Tissue trimming
· Prosection of tissues/organs (at a minimum Rodents)
· Tissue/organ accountabilities
· Assist with training and supervision of non-necropsy personnel
· Stocking standard necropsy supplies
· Laboratory solution and fixative preparation
· Maintaining cleanliness of necropsy suites
· IV Catheterizations & Injections
· Sample collection and processing
· Maintenance of necropsy equipment
· Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, sometimes on short notice
· All other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to in-life, surgery, and clinical functions.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· HS/GED/BS or equivalent in animal or life science related discipline
· Experience: 6 months
· Certification: ALAT preferred.
Preferred Skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and Pristima. Ability to learn and use additional applications.
· Good written and oral communication skills, both inside and outside the organization.
Physical Requirements
· Individuals will be working in both an office and vivarium setting.
· Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and stairs. Spend the majority of the day standing and/or walking.
· Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including respirators.
Work Environment
· The person filling this position will work predominantly in a laboratory setting. There may be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There may be handling of, and/or exposure to animal tissue and zoonotic organisms.
Additional Notes
· Ability to handle common laboratory species
· Basic understanding of study design and protocols
· Knowledge of GLPs and other federal regulations relating to care of laboratory animals

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
