The Challenge
We are looking for a skilled mechanic to join our Rowan County Equipment team.
In this role, you will:
- Service and repair mechanical systems of gas/diesel-powered automotive and heavy equipment.
- Perform mechanic work at various levels. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system.
- Perform skilled mechanic work, including Preventive Maintenance on Tires, Tubes, Wheels, Rims, Cranking Systems, Lighting Systems, Cooling Systems, Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Systems.
What You Bring
- A complete set of mechanic tools.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing 1 of the following: light, medium, heavy duty, or farm equipment brake components.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on 1 of the following: light, medium, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Diagnostics experience with basic electrical systems and proper wiring repairs.
- Basic hydraulic system repairs including component replacement and hoses.
- Knowledge of diagnostic software, tools, and equipment for trucks and heavy equipment.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (If you don't have this, still apply. You can get it through our on-the-job training within 360 days of hire).
- Ability to work during any bad weather, such as snow and/or ice, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. that can lead to working extended daily hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Commitment to following safety regulations.
- You can prepare and maintain paperwork related to employment, equipment repair, inventory, and service record.
- You understand written and verbal instructions.
- You have the strength and agility to move parts and materials to repair and maintain equipment.
- You can safely operate a motor vehicle and equipment for testing purposes.
- Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals.
Notes
- We will conduct a pre-employment drug screening and background check for your past 3 years about controlled substances and alcohol testing.
- We may require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III, or Universal Technician.
Education & Experience
- High School/GED diploma, and
- 2 years of relevant experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
