What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Soccer Coach position at NCFC Youth?
Our Company:
North Carolina FC Youth (NCFC Youth) is a non-profit youth soccer organization home to more than 13,500 players and their families each year. As part of our operation, NCFC Youth employs approximately 60 full-time staff, hires 200 seasonal coaches, and manages more than 1,000 volunteer coaches to support year-round programming through seasonal league play, camps, and tournaments.
In collaboration with the professional North Carolina Football Club, NCFC Youth is the largest youth-to-professional club in the country. Since 1974, we have been living our mission of providing positive, high quality soccer opportunities at all levels of play for youth and their families and serving as a valuable community partner.
The Position:
The Team Coach for NCFC Youth is responsible for all function of team coaching as listed below, as determined by their Program Director.
Essential Functions:
On Field
- Create and deliver a fun, challenging and competitive learning environment for all players in every training session.
- Provide a positive, development centered environment for players on all match days
- Arrive early and be prepared for all team training sessions and games
- Ensure all training sessions are planned on the Playmetrics platform.
- Devise and execute training sessions in line with the NCFC Youth Philosophy and yearly periodization outlined by the club.
- Training Sessions (Classic 3x/week per team, Juniors 2x/week per team)
- Support/attend other NCFC Youth games when possible
- Support staff during tryouts
- A role model at all times
- Wear approved NCFC Youth attire at all times
Off Field
- Conduct three parent meetings throughout the season (preseason, midseason, and end of season)
- Weekly contact with team manager on all logistical related topics.
- Track all relevant player attendance in Playmetrics for all training sessions and games.
- Support club’s philosophy of individual player development.
- Communicate in both a timely and effective manner with families (email, phone calls, text (within 24 hours))
- Follow club’s training periodization and technical framework
- Complete team depth charts as directed
- Complete player evaluation as directed
- Create a positive team culture
Overall Program
- Attend Coaching Meetings at various times and locations to discuss specific topics as outlined by the Program Director
- Be active in sourcing continuing education opportunities to further develop your individual skillset.
Overall NCFC Youth Club
- Promote and portray NCFC Youth in a positive light at all time.
- Represent NCFC Youth at any meeting, courses, seminars with professionalism.
- Assist NCFC Youth in various capacities at any events.
- Be willing to cover other NCFC Youth teams’ training sessions & games when needed
- Adhere to all directives within NCFC Youth Coach Code of Conduct.
- Mandatory reporter of abuse. Must report all suspected abuse within 24 hours using the Abuse Prevention Report.
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Mandatory prior coaching experience
- Preferred minimum coaching licenses USSF “D” or equivalent
- English speaking is required, Spanish speaking would be a plus.
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to interact positively with youth soccer players, parents, referees, and other staff.
- Communicate effectively in person, via email / phone with professional timeliness.
Job Type Requirements:
- Part-time position. Monday – Friday on field hours typically amounting to 4.5 hours per Classic team or 3 hours per Juniors team. Trainings can start as early as 4:45pm. Weekend hours dependent on varying schedule (games, travel, events, etc.)
