General Purpose of the Job: The Business/Data Analyst collects data about NCIA’s operations to improve systems and processes. This includes researching and gathering data, identifying, analyzing, and interpreting data, use of statistical techniques, implementing and maintaining databases, and reporting data in dashboards and other formats that are useful to upper management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Meets with department heads to determine their data needs.
- Helps design systems to continuously evaluate performance improvement and process improvement.
- Assists department heads in designing systems to measure company, departmental, and individual performance and other measurables involved in areas such as budgets, sourcing, sales, profits, commissions, freight costs, and fulfillment levels.
- Teaches department heads and staff to interpret and utilize data within determined parameters.
- Assists department heads in setting, defining, measuring, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Continuously measures the quality of various departments’ data, suggesting improvements and implementing new metrics and systems.
- Develops and manage quality improvement (QI) as compared to defined QI objectives.
- Creates dashboards and reports from multiple data sources and generates relational databases that are useful to multiple departments.
- Creates and generates standard and custom reports summarizing business, financial, or economic data for review by executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Synthesizes current business intelligence or trend data to support recommendations for action.
- Maintains a library of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets.
- Manages timely flow of business intelligence information to users.
- Collects business intelligence data from available industry reports, public information, field reports, or purchased sources.
- Analyzes competitive market strategies through analysis of related industry trends and changes to regulations.
- Maintains or updates business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods.
- Identifies or monitors current and potential customers using business intelligence tools.
- Disseminate information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements.
- Provides technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
- Identifies and analyzes industry or geographic trends with business strategy implications.
- Communicates with customers, competitors, suppliers, professional organizations, or others to stay abreast of industry trends.
- Creates or reviews technical design documentation to ensure the accurate development of reporting solutions.
- Analyzes technology trends to identify markets for future process improvement.
- Conducts or coordinates tests to ensure that intelligence is consistent with defined needs.
- Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.Education:
- 4-year degree in data science, data analytics, mathematics, statistics, business, or related subjects.
Experience:
- Three to six years of related experience and/or training in data analysis or database management.
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record as determined by the criteria established by the Agency's insurance carrier and Agency policy.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to organize and file materials in such a way as to facilitate immediate retrieval of information when needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, necessary to produce written communiqués, charts, tables, and other documents as required by the Executive and HR Directors.
- Detail oriented.
- Knowledge and use of database software.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (Microsoft Excel).
- Advanced proficiency with database management systems (Access, Oracle, SQL server).
- Advanced proficiency with data analysis tools.

Physical Demands:
- This position is primarily a sedentary one with frequent use of arms and hands to reach and write.
- Some standing and walking or ambulatory ability is required to be able to perform in this job.
- The ability to communicate and hear clearly as well as close vision is essential.
- Ability to lift 10 pounds unassisted.
Work Environment:
- Primarily inside the office environment and in team meetings.
- The work environment may include video and/or audio monitoring.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,536.00 - $80,904.00 per year
