HEDIS value sets are datasets of medical billing and electronic clinical data codes that are used for healthcare performance measurement. The Health Care Analyst (HCA) supports value set development and maintenance projects related to HEDIS performance measures. They support systems that organize and manage HEDIS performance measure data.

A successful HCA enjoys independently organizing and analyzing data, getting into the weeds, identifying discrepancies, and recommending solutions. They have strong organizational skills, pay close attention to detail, are curious and quick learners. They are efficient, effective communicators.

Primary Responsibilties:

  • Support value set development and maintenance activities.
    • Work with internal staff and external consultants to build and maintain value sets used for performance measurement reporting.
    • Project management (e.g., planning, timelines, milestone monitoring).
    • Convene expert coding advisory panel.
    • Guide preparation of supporting materials for meetings.
    • Prioritize issues and propose recommendations for key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Effectively manage up to promote strategic decision making.
    • Coordinate activities with outside experts and organizations.
  • Participate in and support NCQA multi-function teams and workgroups involved in developing and enhancing NCQA measure authoring environment, programs and services.
    • Project management (e.g., planning, timelines, milestone monitoring).
    • Provide support during data entry and quality checking processes
    • Provide support developing training materials and presentations
    • Prioritize issues and propose recommendations for key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Effectively manage up to promote strategic decision making.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
    • Prepare written responses to questions from external customers.
    • Verify proposed responses prepared by other staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a health related field or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities required for the position.
  • 1-2 years in a health care setting, medical coding setting or in a health policy setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Problem solver. Organized. Learning mindset.
