Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Instructor I or II located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville. Position closes April 15, 2023 at 11:59 P.M. Central Time or if filled.
This position will report to the Training Supervisor(ILT). The Nuclear Instructor II (NLO Instructor) will support development and implementation of Non-Licensed Operator Initial and Requalification training as a member of the Initial Operations Training Department.
Instructors assigned to this position are accountable to the Engineering Support Personnel (ESP) or Operations Training Programs. This position is responsible for developing, scheduling, and presenting quality training to the staff at Cooper Nuclear Station. This position is also responsible to maintain training programs consistent with NRC, INPO, ANI, and NPPD/CNS requirements.
Nuclear Instructor I: Bachelor's Degree and eight (8) years of relevant experience (OR) an associate's degree and ten (10) years relevant experience (OR) a high school diploma and 12 years relevant experience.
Instructors assigned to the ESP Program require a bachelor's degree in science or engineering with (8) years of relevant experience. Relevant experience is defined as working experience in the related technical area. An additional one year of experience in instructional/training activities is highly desired.
Nuclear Instructor II: Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of relevant experience (OR) an associates degree and six years relevant experience (OR) a high school diploma and eight years relevant experience. Relevant experience is defined as working experience in the related technical area with an additional one year of experience in instructional/training related activities is highly desirable.
Positions assigned to the Operations Training group require a current or previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or an SRO certificiation (not plant certification) at a Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) Plant.
Prepare and present instruction to support the ESP and Operations Training Programs at CNS.
Evaluate trainee performance.
Arrange and coordinate instruction provided by vendors for new, existing, or modified equipment.
Participate in training required to maintain knowledge and skills as an instructor.
Develop, maintain, and modify instructional material.
Document training, communicate, and provide information to satisfy NRC, INPO, ANI , and NPPD/CNS requirements.
Provide technical direction to other nuclear instructors relative to accredited trainining program subject matter.

Nuclear Instructor I Pay Grade - 15
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $8,805 - $10,580 per month
Nuclear Instructor II Pay Grade - 14
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,674 - $9,220 per month
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
