Location and address of position: Lincoln/Omaha

Work schedule: M-F 8-4:30Assess, plan, coordinate, carry out and evaluate academic/vocational activities for individuals enrolled in educational programming. Manage student enrollment, attendance, and individual progress plans for ten adult education sites operated by NDCS. This position will serve as the Adult Education Coordinator to assess program delivery and achieve desired outcomes; collaborate with various corrections programs and departments to meet the academic and vocational needs of inmates; develop effective tracking methods to collect and analyze data; identify and implement changes when appropriate to ensure program is conducted in accordance with all applicable statutes, laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Prepare reports, professional correspondence, and presentations related to areas of oversight for internal and external stakeholders. This position will be part of the education management team to oversee all facets of the NDCS education program. The position involves regular in-state travel with occasional overnight and out of state travel as needed.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field, plus two years' corrections experience; OR Associates degree in criminal justice, behavioral science, human services or related field plus four years' experience; OR six years corrections experience.

PREFERRED: Experience coordinating, managing, or evaluating an education or vocational program. Experience teaching or otherwise working with adult learners including diverse students and educators, knowledgeable of GED pre-requisites and procedures, familiarity with Acellus or other online learning platforms, CASAS assessments and LACES data management system preferred.

OTHER: Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: the medical exam and, at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.Knowledge of: state, local and federal laws and programs relating to correctional programs; procedure and policy development; methods and techniques of program planning; available funding sources; human dynamics; learning/teaching techniques; quality assurance mechanisms; principles and techniques of planning, monitoring and evaluating corrections programs and service delivery systems; agency programs, organizational structures, functions, policies, procedures, communication channels, and objectives as they relate to the managed programs, contracts, and grants; the scope and impact of operations coordinated and their interrelationship with the agency as a whole; and techniques of program research, planning, and evaluation.

Ability to: plan, organize and manage a major program; analyze program needs and recommend changes to achieve desired results; establish and maintain positive relationships with agency staff, service providers/contractors, community organizations and clients; develop and apply policies, procedures, and processes for the programs managed; assess operational efficiencies; prepare and review technical documents such as summaries of state and federal regulations, action plans, reports, contracts and grants; understand, interpret and apply instructions, laws, rules, policies and procedures pertinent to the program; exercise independent critical thinking skills; maintain liaison with community representatives and other governmental agencies.
