Job Title: Director of Health Information Technology
Department: Administrative
Reports To: CFO/COO

SUMMARY

The Director of Health Information Technology will work closely with senior leadership to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the information technology & health information system strategy and plan, ensuring that the strategy ties in closely with the organizations business goals. This position leads a multidisciplinary team of individuals across departments including electronic health records, billing, & data analytics.

Essential Job Duties

  • Manage relationship with 3rd party IT vendor, including monitoring service levels, equipment inventories, software licensing, etc.
  • Participates in installs, upgrades, or decommissions of designated systems, products, and infrastructure.
  • Supervises the EPIC and billing teams by providing guidance on policy & procedures, best practices and changes in the business that impact EPIC workflows.
  • Monitor guidelines and regulations governing billing of patient services to Medicaid, Medicare, and all other payors.
  • Creates, writes, and runs reports for clinical data requested by Executive Leadership Team.
  • Performs billing related workflow analysis and implement process improvements, as necessary.
  • Supports the implementation and ongoing training of APCM as it relates to billing and EPIC.
  • Obtaining, processing, and maintaining all documents related to credentialing and privileging.
  • Assists the finance department with preparing information for WRAP payment submission.
  • Coordinate the installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network and systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and purchases technology based on NHC needs.
  • Oversees the work of the data analyst to ensure integrity of data, reporting sources, etc.
  • Oversees and directs a team responsible for all aspects of the credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging processes for all providers and licensed and/or certified staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Healthcare, Business, or related field is required.
  • At least five years experience in a similar role is required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be qualifying.

License and/or Certification Requirements

  • No additional License or Certification required outside of Education and Experience qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors

  • Ability to plan, implement and support systems in a complex health care environment
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Knowledge of various office productivity software programs such as word processing, databases, spreadsheet programs, and communications software.
  • Ability to link and apply complex technologies to business strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of EPIC /Wisdom electronic health record.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Knowledge of current CMS regulations related to coding and documentation.
  • Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to management, peers, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, peers, management, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly sit while working on the computer; use hands and fingers to handle, control or feel objects tools or controls; repeat the same movements when entering data; ability to differentiate between colors, shades, and brightness; read from a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently stand and walk around the office to gather supplies, required to do filing, use office equipment, or collaborate with employees.
  • Occasionally stand, stoop and lift or move objects, equipment and supplies weighing approximately 20-25 pounds up to 40-50 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed is required.
  • Must be able to travel during the workday for meetings and trainings.
