The Director of New Ventures focuses on strategy and execution of new product and market opportunities. This position experiments with and analyzes new product opportunities both in our core business segments and new verticals to increase Nelnet’s revenue and lessen dependence on current revenue streams. This role will work with other leaders in prioritizing and developing actionable strategies for each opportunity. The Director of New Ventures Director will also manage the New Venture’s Team. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Manage a team that works independently on multiple projects in addition to cross-team collaborative projects. 2. Effectively communicate with current and potential customers to find and sell beta clients for new products or markets. 3. Perform market segmentation, targeting and positioning for product suite. 4. Create actionable strategies to determine the viability of a new market or product. 5. Perform customer interviews and manage alpha and beta clients for new markets and new products. 6. Develop a strategic market decision-making, prioritization & governance process. 7. Lead projects that develop wireframes based on user research and requirement documents provided by the Product Team. 8. Collaborate with other core Nelnet Product Teams. 9. Leverage feedback channels and validate feedback. 10. Develop storyboards and utilize scoping capabilities to create new innovation ideas and concepts. 11. Experiment with no-code opportunities for MVP development. EDUCATION: 4-year degree in Business, Finance or related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience. EXPERIENCE: 1. 10 years of experience executing successful product and business strategies. 2. Financial industry and/or software experience preferred. 3. Business modeling background.
