Your core responsibility within Nemo is to concept and drive strategy for graphic design work for our clients and the agency. Being an Art Director requires holistic thinking – what is the communication ecosystem, how does the campaign message interact with the audience? Typically, the Art Director will work on brand marketing campaigns, digital touchpoints, identity and logo development, collateral and marketing/promotional materials, seasonal directives, websites, catalogs and new client RFPs. The Art Director will also take the lead in representing Nemo in the design community.
Core Responsibilities
- Play a key role in conducting conceptual explorations, including research, design, content development, and art direction of photography.
- Able to develop and integrate campaigns across multiple platforms driving compelling and cohesive stories.
- Responsible for understanding target audience needs and design trends and applying them to the creative process.
- Lead creative execution for key clients. Manage and lead client presentations.
- Oversee the creative output of lead designers, graphic designers and production designers assigned to your accounts. Know how to delegate.
- Push our client and Nemo design standards forward by looking for new, innovative and successful ways to communicate through design.
- Active in the local creative community, leading Nemo studio tours, sitting on panels, conduct portfolio reviews, etc.
- Develop a close relationship with the client; be as invested in their brand and work as they are
Skills and Qualifications
- 7-10 years experience in a design studio or ad agency
- Excellent leadership skills; inspire your team and collaborate
- Ability to interface effectively with clients, “sell in” design concepts and campaign strategy and defend creative decisions
- Expert level Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc…
- Expert conceptual, layout and type-handling abilities
- Ability to sketch, illustrate and communicate visual ideas
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or equivalent
- Graphic design skills are key – this is a hands-on position
- Passion for our clients is important
