We are seeking a VP of Merchandise who will be responsible for creating and implementing a strategic merchandise plan to strengthen merchandise initiatives and enhance our online footprint for both NEON and our films. This pivotal role will oversee all aspects of merchandising, including product development and retail partnerships, meeting customer demands, driving revenue growth and ensuring that every product aligns with NEON's brand identity and film aesthetics.

This dynamic position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in overseeing product development, inventory management, logistics, and customer experience. As the VP of Merchandising & E-Commerce, you will collaborate closely with our creative, marketing, and operations teams to craft strategies that ensure our e-commerce platform embodies the distinctive voice and aesthetic of NEON while meeting customer demands and driving revenue growth.

Candidates must be based in either New York or Los Angeles.

Here's What You’ll Do:

Merchandising Strategy and Execution

  • Oversee all aspects of merchandising, including product development and retail partnerships, ensuring that every product aligns with NEON's brand identity and film aesthetics.
  • Develop and implement a merchandise strategy for NEON and its film releases, ensuring alignment with the company’s creative vision and target audiences.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of merchandise development, including product design, sourcing, pricing, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to design products that reflect the distinct identity of each film and NEON's brand.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners, including designers, manufacturers, and retailers, to produce high-quality merchandise.
  • Drive retail partnerships and licensing agreements to maximize revenue opportunities through all online channels.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for cross-functional teams and external vendors, ensuring seamless execution of merchandise initiatives.

E-Commerce Leadership

  • Lead the e-commerce strategy for NEON branded and film-specific merchandise.
  • Oversee the launch and performance of online sales platforms, including website development, product catalog management, and customer experience.
  • Analyze market data to identify trends and consumer behavior to optimize product offerings and pricing.
  • Ensure a seamless and engaging online shopping experience for customers.

Financial Management

  • Manage merchandise budgets, sales forecasts, and profit margins to ensure that all initiatives meet financial targets.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth.
  • Analyze market trends and consumer behavior to inform merchandising decisions and optimize product offerings.

Operations and Logistics

  • Oversee inventory management, including planning, procurement, storage, and distribution.
  • Ensure all merchandise complies with relevant regulations, including intellectual property rights and licensing agreements.
  • Facilitate efficient and timely delivery of products to customers through effective logistics planning and execution.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, timely delivery, and competitive pricing.
  • Track and analyze logistics performance to identify areas for improvement and optimize processes.

Customer Experience

  • Supervise and optimize sales channels (e.g., online, phone).
  • Foster strong customer relationships through exceptional service.
  • Coordinate external support providers for quality and efficiency.
  • Create plans to handle customer inquiries promptly.
  • Document best practices and create FAQs for the website.
  • Establish standardized procedures for excellent customer support.

Required/Preferred Skills:

  • 5 years of experience in merchandising, e-commerce, or a related field, with a focus on entertainment or retail.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline; an MBA is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing e-commerce platforms, and executing successful merchandising strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions and optimize merchandising strategies.
  • Deep understanding of inventory management principles to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize costs.
  • Experience navigating e-commerce platforms, warehouse management systems (WMS), and transportation management systems (TMS) with ease.
  • Passion for independent film and a deep understanding of the consumer landscape and their merchandising needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Compensation:

This position has a target annual pay range of $150,000 and $175,000. Compensation for prospective employees within the range listed will be determined by various factors, including experience and qualifications, specialization required for the role, budget considerations, and local market conditions.
