SUMMARY: This position provides technical support for product sample testing, analysis, consultation and other related services for production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conduct product sample testing and analysis as directed and report the results to the requestor as needed. Understand and apply technical information, diagrams, and procedures related to test methods and standards (ASTM/ISO), instrumentation and quality control pertinent to physical and analytical lab operations. Assist with test method development and work instructions as needed. Observe and record data in an accurate, precise and organized manner as required. Assist in laboratory equipment calibration, verification and maintenance as needed. Assist in certification initiatives. Continue training of all test methods that are related to the physical testing performed in the laboratory. Operate pertinent laboratory equipment for test specimen creation. Conform to safe work practices and compliant to corporate safety program. Handle hazardous materials in a safe and
cautious manner. QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to apply basic concepts of math. Ability to analyze data and make decisions according. Possess a professional attitude. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Knowledge of processing equipment. Good communication skills, verbal and written. Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
The candidate will be responsible for learning and correctly performing all test procedures used at the Edison New Jersey Site laboratory required to support the production department. Upon successful completion of training, the position requires to work an alternate day shift schedule (Sun-Thurs. or Tues-Sat.).
Ability to perform all test procedures and handle instrumentation/equipment used in testing, which includes Gas Chromatographs, UV-Visible Spectrometers, KF titrators, Melt Flow Indexer, various particle size determination techniques, and classical lab apparatuses.
2 years of industrial laboratory experience with either a non-technical 4-year degree or a 2-year technical degree will also be considered.

- Perform PP/PE polymerizations and physical testing of polymers.
- Well versed in computer skills.
- Possess good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Assists with the maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments and equipment.
- Understanding and operational use of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample tracking and data input.
- Nitrogen Glove box preparations require standing in one place and working with heavy gloves for up to half an hour.
- Ability to move solvent drums (55 gals) and cylinder gases as needed.
