What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Planner position at NESC Staffing?
We are seeking a Materials Planner to manage inventory for our manufacturing operations. In this role you are responsible for forecasting our supply needs and ensuring we have appropriate materials on hand. This position focuses on vendor management, as you must source the raw and manufactured materials we need to produce our products. Your duties will involve negotiating contracts with suppliers, submitting purchase orders, coordinating internally with engineering, manufacturing and oversight of the production schedule and manufacturing floor. Duties:
- Forecast supply needs for a given period based on orders on hand
- Negotiate contracts with vendors
- Ensure materials meet specifications
- Order supplies so manufacturing can continue without interruption
- Organize and Manage the production floor workflow
- Expedite orders when supplies are low
- Adjust order sizes as needs fluctuate
What We’re Looking For
- In person position – Amesbury, MA
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read mechanical drawings
- Familiarity with NetSuite ERP
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with ERP implementation is a plus
- Supply chain and vendor management experience
- Strong negotiation and forecasting skills
- Understanding of SolidWorks and BOM’s
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
