Job Description:
Prepares layouts, plans, installation/construction drawings, estimates and oversees the installation, and reconfiguration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, shop areas and other facilities to address strategic and established program opportunities
Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, project requirements, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility
Completes accurate field measurements and verifications
Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings for large construction projects
Prepares statements of work for equipment and construction
Reviews and approves plans, estimates, designs and design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs
Physical Requirements
Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.
Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required.
Vision/Hearing: Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions.
Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed.
Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate as required. Able to work around heavy equipment or machinery.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience
Minimum 5 years of design experience in a manufacturing or industrial facility including equipment layouts, and/or mechanical, electrical and plumbing construction.
Experienced in using CAD to produce layouts and construction documents (Examples - Microstation/AutoCAD/Catia)
Knowledge of building codes and standards
Project Management experience in working a project from conception to completion
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Experience in producing installation/construction drawings in the layout of production, manufacturing, laboratory and warehouse facilities
Experience in design engineering and capable of planning and conducting tasks requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
Project estimating experience
Knowledge of how to manage asbestos and lead hazards
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions
Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
Must have skills:
Experienced in using CAD to produce layouts and construction document.
