Reporting to the VP of Sales, The National Sales Manager (NSM) will develop and implement the goals for all of NESN’s national sales activity. Through managing and directing NESN’s national rep firm, with offices across the country, the NSM will achieve national sales revenue objectives. He/she will also be responsible for the management of 2 direct reports including the National Sales Coordinator and the National Sales Media Planner.
About You
- You will:
- Manage and direct Fox Sports Media group (HTS) and all offices and personnel where it pertains to NESN
- Service and represent NESN clients throughout the country
- Oversee direct sponsorship and agency driven revenue streams by designing and recommending packages for national rep firm.
- Develop short- to mid-term sales plans and initiatives for generating advertising sales revenues for regions or segments of accountability
- Interact with major decision makers to convince and influence business decisions
- Build and enhance high level internal and external relationships
- Negotiate and close prominent and complex sales accounts
- Provide accurate revenue budget forecasts and on-going projections for national sales team performance
- Assign accounts and assist in all facets of rep firm management including making recommendations for hiring, training, evaluating and performance incentives.
- Partner with HTS to achieve digital sales goals
- Actively participate in the sales process through prospect identification, needs analysis, sales presentations and sales analysis.
- Analyze market data and sales trends; collect and report on research information to ensure NESN’s sales plans are effective and strategic
- Interact with top management to keep them abreast of advertising sales plans and strategies
- Engage Creative Services, Programming and Production on the creation of sponsorship opportunities that meet the client’s needs
- Monitor competitive activity to ensure market leadership
- Manage, develop and provide leadership to the National Sales Coordinator and National Sales Planner

- You have:
- 8+ years of media sales experience required
- 3+ years of national sales management or national rep firm experience required
- Experience in digital sales is strongly preferred
- Proven track record of success in developing new business, creative selling techniques, prospecting and inventory control
- Proven track record in developing and growing sponsorship and entitlement sales
- Experience with managing and developing junior sales staff
- Strong leadership, motivational, negotiation and problem solving skills
- Working knowledge of the world of sports, with a focus on New England’s professional sports teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent presentation
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint; Knowledge of and/or experience with the Wide Orbit traffic system a plus
