We are looking for a Junior Credit Trader and Analyst to join our Renewable Road Transportation team in Houston, TX.

We have a small, yet highly professional and capable team of experts working in the RRT Americas Sales Team. Our team is responsible for continuing to grow our sales via solution selling, expanding our product and services to new markets and regions and dedicated to driving continuous improvement in bettering our financial result. We work via multiple channels to markets to optimize our participation effectiveness, and we also play an active role in supporting industry advocacy to promote green energy and a circular economy.

As a Junior Credit Trader and Analyst, responsibilities consist of two key areas:

Trading:
Conduct the management activities within established risk and position limits managing Neste's US RINs, California LCFS carbon credits, CFP credits business including selling Neste's and optimizing market RINs and carbon credits

Hedge based on information provided by risk management group including position management

Work across functions in evaluating current and long-term market needs and supply availability to match demands in terms of quantity, quality and timing

Develop and maintain professional relationships with regulatory committees

Monitor and advise of possible changes in EMTS and LCFS requirements, notifying affected parties and updating reporting and/or analysis process as required

Provide support to other parts of the business as it relates to EMTS/LCFS/CFP regulatory activity

Actively communicate with management of trading activities and coordinate with trade finance, chartering, operational management and contract execution.

Build relationships with relevant stakeholders including customers, brokers, traders, reporting agencies, analysts, news reporters, etc.

Lead standardisation and accessibility of key sustainability information

Analysis and commercial support:
Assume responsibility of gathering and validating inputs to RIN and LCFS Supply based on intelligence from Neste analysts, counterparties and 3rd party analysts, i.e. continuous updating of main fundamental assumptions based on intelligence from other Neste analysts, counterparties and 3rd party analysts.

Development of tools and ways working together with wider market analyst community

Follow-up and proactive communication of market drivers on all levels: macro (feedstock & fossil prices), micro (trade flow, counterparty intel) & regulatory

Participation in monthly S&OP and weekly S&OE forecasting processes

Be an active player in the market while analyzing market fundamentals, drivers, and trends

Collaborate with the pricing team to proactively conduct analysis, forecast potential changes to higher management on direction, trend, key market benchmarks and position management strategies

Build and maintain market knowledge through interaction with other market participants

You will work closely with our cross functional teams including Business Development and Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Pricing, Supply Chain and Operations in the Americas region and will also work within our wider organization across regions with our global network of trading organizations across multiple business units.

Keys to success in this role

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and strategic mindset

Experience in fuel markets including diesel, heating oil, jet fuel, and gasoline

Good knowledge and experience trading RINs and LCFS carbon credits

Good understanding of market fundamentals as well as hedging and derivatives

Good understanding of product flows and value chains in fuel markets

Good knowledge of biofuels legislation and regulations including the Renewable Fuel Standard, and the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard, Oregon Clean Air Act Program

A passionate belief that sustainable, low-carbon, clean-burning fuels are an important part of the solution in managing climate change and pollution

2 years of relevant work experience in trading environment

Solid presentation and communication skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications as well as Google Suite proficiency

Willing to travel at least 25% of time

Professional competency in English, both written and spoken

Bachelor’s degree in Economics or equivalent education
