Position Summary
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent Quality & Food Safety on specified development projects. Execute Quality and Food Safety Project Deliverables. Ensure quality, food safety and compliance assessments are conducted correctly prior to project industrialization
- Assess food safety for culinary (frozen & chilled) products, ingredients and processes, including designing and overseeing scientific studies (shelf life, challenge studies, method development), utilizing proper design of experiments principles
- Primary contact for hurdle design in chilled products. Identify, trial, and implement hurdle design solutions for flawless implementation in projects to assure food safety globally in frozen and chilled products
- Conduct predictive modeling and challenge studies to confirm food safety by design
- Provide thermal processing expertise for Not-ready-to-eat products
- Identify the needs and potential solutions to drive value and continuous improvement accelerate innovation for frozen and chilled culinary. Lead projects to accelerate innovation and timely deliver the project objectives to create value while maintaining stakeholder alignment
- Contribute and lead projects for to the accelerating innovation support pipeline for quality and food safety to enable growth in frozen and chilled food
- Author and support continual implementation of relevant Quality & Food Safety standards and guidelines, as determined by B-Food and Nestle Professional SBU
- Support relevant Markets with food safety expertise through technical assistance
- Provide expertise and support for the Site Quality and Food Safety team for site compliance, internal audits, and the food safety team (as needed)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Food Science or relevant field. Relevant Graduate degree preferred. Must be able to apply scientific & technical knowledge to product and process safety
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food industry manufacturing or research and development (ideally having exposure to product development activities and frozen and chilled food manufacturing facilities)
- Food industry external network experience is desirable
- Quality Management Systems experience is desirable (implementation & auditing ISO 22000/ISO 9001)
- Stakeholder Management: Strong coaching and training skills (to technical and non-technical people)
- Inter-personal skills. Must be able to work as a member of a team & successfully manage up to significant internal stakeholders
- Leadership skills. Must be able to lead teams, anticipate and plan for obstacles, coach and develop others
- Project & Process Management Skills: Organizational, planning and execution skills. Delivering results according to plan
- Available to travel 10-20%
