Position Summary:
The incumbent analytically tests and reports the results of products used or produced from manufacturing at the NHSc Savannah, GA Factory. The incumbent operates under the guidance and supervision of the QA Laboratory Supervisor who directs what testing is required. The incumbent is proficient in the use of all QA Laboratory analytical instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Proficient in the safe operation of all lab instrumentation.
* Perform analysis of Raw Materials, Packaging, and Products in adherence to all applicable standards:
- Package integrity testing for disposition.
- Raw materials receiving and quality release.
- Analytical and Sensory for all products according to customer specifications.
- Product evaluations at specific intervals (Analytical and Sensory evaluations of finished product).
* Laboratory Instrumentation and Equipment:
- Calibration testing and documentation for all lab instruments.
- Daily, weekly, monthly care for all instruments and equipment.
- Assist the QA Laboratory Supervisor in method development and validation.
* Assist with Quality hold dispositions and investigations.
* Participate in internal (GLP) and external (regulatory) audits as required.
* Participate in inter-laboratory proficiency testing.
* Report any safety incidents/accidents and understand and follow all Company and Plant Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Perform duties in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
* Train in the HACCP program to understand critical steps necessary for the effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
* Additional duties as required or assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements:
* B.S. in chemistry preferred / Bachelors in a science field required.
* Laboratory experience preferred.
* HACCP knowledge or certification preferred.
* Demonstrate communication, organization and listening skills.
* Excellent attention to detail, neatness and follow through.
* Ability to organize and handle multiple tasks.
* Computer literate.
