Job Overview
We are looking for a versatile, quantitative individual to serve as Finance Associate. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and have broad responsibilities across all financial aspects of the organization, including corporate finance, accounting, treasury, project finance, investor relations and strategy. This is a unique opportunity to learn, lead and influence a rapidly growing company at our headquarters in Durham, NC.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the CFO in all capital raising efforts, including preparing investor marketing materials, managing advisors, reviewing and analyzing financing alternatives
- Build and own robust, dynamic and elegant financial models, perform financial analyses and conduct data-based research to evaluate alternatives, assess outcomes and support the company strategy
- Support the financial planning, forecasting and reporting processes, including our annual budgeting and long-term planning exercises as well as our quarterly and monthly closing and reporting activities, in coordination with the accounting team
- Prepare presentations, reporting packages and analyses for senior management, the Board of Directors, investors and customers
- Work with CFO, Deputy General Counsel, and CIO to design and implement an overall risk management policy for the organization, which includes an analysis of the financial impact on the company when risks occur
- In partnership with CIO office, create business continuity plans to limit risks
- Maintain record of insurance policies and claims
- Special projects as assigned, including assisting the accounting team, research on total addressable market, SWOT, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business; MBA degree preferred
- Experience working in an outward facing deal environment in an investment banking execution team, private equity investment team, and/or strategic finance roles in a transaction-oriented public corporation or private company
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills. Ability to extract, synthesize and articulate key insights and messages from complex, detailed information to partners and senior leadership
- Advanced expertise in building and auditing Excel financial models that are robust, dynamic, intuitive and scalable
- Ability to work both within a team environment and independently to prioritize tasks
