Reports to: Counseling Coordinator
Mission: To provide high-quality counseling services, including in-office, community, telehealth, and mobile school counseling, case management, and other supportive services to victims of crime and their significant others.
Responsibilities:
- Initiates and maintains relationships within the greater community and collaborates with other organizations serving victims of crime and abuse in order to promote victim access to NOVA services.
- Provides training and outreach as assigned to volunteers, staff, community members, and professional groups.
- Provides support to other counselors and/or interns as directed.
Direct Services:
- Refers clients to other NOVA programs or other agencies as appropriate and serves as a liaison for the client if requested.
- Conducts client intakes and assessments in order to provide appropriate counseling services as needed.
- Co-facilitates support groups for clients and their families as appropriate or as assigned.
- Provides high-quality and effective counseling services to clients 22-25 hours per week in either the home, community, or school, via telehealth and/or office as assigned.
- Utilizes appropriate evidence-based programs for clients.
- Organizes and facilitates support groups for clients and their families as assigned.
- Provides case management services for clients.
- Maintains all client records including updates and closings.
- Provides clinical consultation to the Bucks County Children’s Advocacy Center multidisciplinary team members and attends case reviews as needed.
- Provides on-call coverage as assigned, including hotline, text line, chat line, and emergency room accompaniment as required.
Administration:
- Meets regularly with the Counseling Coordinator for support, direction, supervision, and feedback.
- Communicates and collaborates with other agency staff. Adheres to all agency policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality).
- Participates in staff meetings at all levels of the agency as appropriate or as assigned.
- Maintains client files following procedures developed by the Director of Client Services.
- Completes and submits all required, relevant, and assigned paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
- Supports and participates in agency activities such as staff retreats, special events, volunteer recognition events, and fundraising as appropriate or as assigned.
- Actively participates in one NOVA staff committee.
Staff Development:
- Seeks and participates in appropriate development activities maintaining ongoing training hours as required by funders.
- Stays abreast of information concerning victims of crime, counseling techniques and interventions.
Qualifications:
- Clinical Counselor I – Masters’ degree and licensure or soon to be licensed (within one year) in social work, counseling, psychology, or another relevant field.
- Clinical Counselor II – Masters’ degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or another relevant field.
- A minimum of 2 years experience working clinically with children, adults, and families.
- TFCBT and EMDR certification preferred, or training must be completed within two years post-hire as needed.
- Sexual Assault Counselor (SAC) training certificate or must attend the 40-hour SAC Training at NOVA within 3 months post-hire.
- Must be able to work 2 evenings per week and provide on-call coverage for the Chat/Text/Phone Hotline as assigned during the day and at least one overnight as staff backup per month).
- Must have available transportation to travel to all three of NOVA’s offices, schools and clients’ homes as needed, primarily based out of the Fairless Hills office in Bucks County.
- Bilingual/multilingual preferred.
- Highly values teamwork.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Current criminal, child abuse and FBI clearance is required before hire.
