Summary of Organization
Since our founding in 1985, New Economics for Women (NEW) has maintained that economic stability and
mobility is a fundamental human right. Standing in the way of that right is a complex system of barriers that keeps
underserved families, particularly women and children, in a cycle of generational poverty. Over the last 35 years,
NEW has addressed this complex system of barriers, and continues to deliver on its mission to spark economic
mobility through wealth creation programs and services, housing, education, entrepreneurship and advocacy for
economic justice. As of 2021, NEW has evolved to annually serve nearly 17,000 people and has developed over
1,600 units of affordable housing across 15 housing developments, built and rehabilitated 110 affordable single-
family homes, built community, public school and health clinic space, and created two high-performing charter
elementary schools. We are invested and proud of our model and position to drive forward innovative solutions
that help families experience economic mobility. Join our team of champions for economic justice!
