Our Principal Product Designer will be planning, cleaning, and re-structuring our Figma libraries so they’re complete and easy to use for designers and collaborating with Product Designers to share library updates, provide/receive feedback, share best practices, and maintain a cohesive experience in the product. ResponsibilitiesDefine a strategy, create a roadmap and lead a best-in-class Design SystemEvolve existing design patterns and refine an ‘in-take process’ for identifying, creating and prioritizing new reusable components based on user and team needDesign and propose new components and design tokens in Figma, while also working with cross functional partners to implement pattern components on web frameworks and native platformProactively identify opportunities to review code and design decisions to enforce component usage, while socializing upcoming changes to more deeply integrate the system usage in all areas of product developmentNavigate ambiguity by maintaining clear ‘sources of truth’ for engineers and designers that detail: use expectations, decision rationale and other required documentation (i.e. Token Studio, Figma, etc.)Work autonomously to quickly and pragmatically execute on multiple projects simultaneouslyDefine Design System KPIs to measure health and help optimize for future usageContribute to the Design team’s growth through mentorship and joining Design Team Guilds to improve the day-to-day environmentRough responsibility breakdown: 70% execution, 20% strategy / planning / coordination and 10% evangelizingQualificationsRequiredBachelor’s Degree in Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Computer Science or equivalent.8 years of experience in product design, with at least 2 years focused on design systems designPortfolio that demonstrates designing and building high-quality design systems components for both consumer or enterprise grade B2B productsStrong proficiency in building scalable, reusable web components that integrate design tokensExcellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesWorking knowledge of native platforms (i.e. Android, iOS) to confidently work with native engineers in translating web components / designing client-specific componentsExperience collaborating with other product designers, product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align roadmaps and implementation detailsExperience building and maintaining design tokens: UI design, light mode / dark mode, naming / categorization, management, conversion, version control, and distributionExperience building and maintaining Design Systems documentationDesired:MS/MA degree in a related fieldKnowledge of and excitement for fintech, the financial industry, or personal and business bankingKnowledge of theSalesforceplatformExperience with research tools such as Maze, UserTesting, or similarWillingness to relocate to Lehi, UTIf you thrive in a high-energy, entrepreneurial environment, we invite you to share your passion, ideas and excitement at nCino.The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy.
