The Role: 

The VP Marine Operations will drive the technical and operational aspects of the LNGC and FSRU shipping business for New Fortress Energy. From an internal perspective, this includes operational oversight of the NFE LNG Carrier and FSRU fleet.  Externally the person will interface with fleet managers for technical management of vessels and lead negotiations with shipyards and other vendors involved in drydocking, conversions, and reactivations.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for Marine Operations and fleet management for NFE assets
  • Lead and develop budgets and manage projects for maintenance, drydocks, reactivations, and conversions in conjunction with ship managers
  • Lead the Technical Marine team in preparation of specifications for projects, refurbishments and drydocks
  • Responsible for quality, safety and security; of environmentally sound fleet operations
  • Technical evaluation of charter opportunities, acquisition targets, and internal fleet expansion prospects.
  • Responsible for quality, safety and security; ensuring policies and procedures are in place and being utilized for safe and environmentally sound fleet operations
  • Establish KPI’s and reporting on technical performance of fleet, maintenance schedules and operational impacts on the commercial shipping fleet
  • Collaborate with Technology team to develop displays and real-time reporting
  • Work in partnership with Commercial Shipping and LNG team to optimize existing terminals and assets to maximize utilization and earnings
  • Should be fully proficient in marine technical and operations

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Nautical or related degree
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a leadership role in marine operations with previous offshore experience preferred
  • Direct experience with technical aspects of LNG Carriers and FSRUs
  • Experience working with shipyards
  • Direct experience developing budgets and managing projects
  • History of asset management responsibility
  • Finance exposure preferred
