NGP and NGPAF are vibrant, independent, fast-paced, non-partisan voter registration and civic organizations that have seen explosive growth in the last twelve months and are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. NGP and NGPAF seek a passionate, collaborative, and innovative professional that will join the Organization during an exciting time of transformation.


The Director of Individual Giving is an essential member of the development team, responsible for the strategy surrounding individual donors at all gift levels to support the short- and long-term fundraising goals of the New Georgia Project/New Georgia Project Action Fund (NGP/NGPAF). This individual will play a critical role in supporting our overall fundraising goals and is expected to independently identify top priority prospects and secure individual funding to support our programs.


The role is part of the Individual Giving team and works collaboratively with Program staff. This individual supervises the Individual Giving Coordinator, and their leadership and growth of the organization. As the development grows, the Director of Individual Giving will have the opportunity to play a role in hiring and supervising other positions. In this role, you will report to the Chief Development Officer. This role includes, but is not limited to, creating and implementing a strategy around all donor levels from grassroots to principal donors across our c3, c4, and PAC. You will serve as chief strategist for major and principal donors (5 to 7 figure level), supporting Chief Development Officer, C-Suite leaders and Board in their major donor fundraising efforts, managing a discrete portfolio of donors, creating, and implementing a robust prospecting strategy, using all available fundraising tools to steward and grow the number of individual donors and revenue from those donors.

Strategy, Planning and Reporting (40%)

  • Design, implement and manage a comprehensive, proactive development plan for individual giving, with a focus on expanding and enhancing major and principal donors.
  • Serve as a chief strategist; implement strategies to further refine solicitation and stewardship strategies by individual donor segmentation.
  • Ensure prospect research efforts are advancing major and principal donor identification and strategy.
  • Execute an annual communications plan and calendar for individual donors and collaborate with organizations head writer and development consultant to craft messaging.
  • Implement appropriate cultivation and stewardship opportunities to deepen engagement with current and prospective donors.
  • Collaborate and problem solve with Individual Giving Group on increasing recruitment, retention, and renewal of key donors.
  • Leverage personal/professional network to open doors for NGP.
  • Establish and meet annual goals including, dollars raised, renewal percentages, and donor pipeline development for individual donor portfolio
  • Partner with Chief Development Officer and Director of Institutional Giving to:
    • Develop annual goals, plans, and work plans for department
    • Reconcile contributions from individual donors and update projections
    • Develop budgets and monitor expenses related to the individual giving program
  • Perform comprehensive ongoing data analysis and evaluation related to all aspects of the annual giving program
  • Lead special projects as needed.

Donor Portfolio Management and Solicitation (40%)

  • Manage donor portfolios for each primary solicitor.
  • Personally manage and solicit a robust portfolio of major and principal donors.
  • Create and execute strategy to research the capacity of current donors and move those who are able to larger annual gifts.
  • Manage the C-Suite, Senior Staff, Chief Development Officer, Chief Program Officers, and key board leaders in their fundraising efforts. You will also collaborate closely with the Chief Development Officer on these efforts.
  • Actively cultivate, solicit and steward prospective and current donors.
  • Manage the low dollar, grassroots giving program and vendor.

Supervision and Administration (20%)

  • Manage the Individual Giving Associate, providing mentorship, professional development, and annual performance reviews.
  • Guide and lead the Individual Giving Group in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and managing stewardship of individual donors and donor prospects. Including leading event logistics, prospect research, prospect qualification, and donor stewardship
  • Serves as onboarding and orientation coordinator for Individual Giving Group.
  • Maintain fundraising records in CRM database, including revenues, proposal and report submissions, deadlines, deliverables, and interactions. Track and report progress against fundraising goals and institutional objectives.
  • Ensure individual giving fundraising activity and interactions are accurately and regularly stored in donor databases and information systems and acknowledgment letters are generated in a timely matter
  • Meets as required with Program and Finance staff to ensure that established budgetary revenue and expenses for all restricted individual gifts are understood. Prepare reports on progress as required (minimum quarterly).

  • Minimum 5 years of experience personally cultivating and soliciting individual donors, with most of the time soliciting major donor or principal gift for a nonprofit or commensurate experience. Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Relationship builder who enjoys learning about new people, understanding what motivates them and fuels their philanthropic priorities. You make people feel heard and appreciated. You are skilled at building a pitch that is at the intersection of the organizations work and the individuals’ giving priorities.
  • You have superior written and verbal communications, interpersonal and negotiation skills. You enjoy collaboration with colleagues in the department and throughout the organization to build actionable plans in reaching your goals. You have a proven ability to think on your feet based on real-time feedback, understand the organization’s mission, vision, and work, and synthesize that for concise and compelling messaging.
  • You can manage across multiple work streams and functions, planning for and keeping multiple priorities and deadlines thanks to your high level of organization and well thought out processes and systems or leveraging the existing systems and processes.
  • You think several steps ahead in donor cultivation and management using the moves management framework. You are intentional and skilled at keeping yourself on track with a portfolio of donors. You are highly organized in managing your own workflow but also managing donor solicitations that where others on staff are the main point of contact.
  • You are motivated and undaunted by ambitious goals. You are persistent and optimistic but communicate challenges and potential shortfalls with clarity and proposed solutions.

New Georgia Project (c3) and New Georgia Project Action Fund (c4) are seeking a Director of Individual Giving to support the development department. This role will focus on major gifts from individuals and organizations and will require cross training with other aspects of development for a non-profit including grants management, digital fundraising, and special events. We’re looking for a teammate who can innovate, think independently, and initiate change, and simultaneously operationalize and execute on existing development strategies.

  • Due to COVID, the Data and Targeting team is currently working remotely. This role is currently fully remote working on US Eastern Time, and will be based in Atlanta, GA
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods, reach with hands, fingers, and arms and speak and hear clearly
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • May infrequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary is commensurate with experience and within the parameters of the NGP and NGPAF compensation scale. Benefits include four weeks of vacation to start and access to medical, dental and vision insurance plans, as well as a retirement plan with an employer match.
