Business Analyst
Responsibilities
The Business Analyst will act as the Scrum Team's primary liaison to Product Management and Design. This role facilitates feature refinements with product management and design and technical refinements with the engineering team. Refinements should result in clear features and user stories for the scrum team's backlog. This role requires a deep understanding of agile methodologies, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Location
This is a hybrid/remote position requiring approximately one day per month in the Ohio office. Additional office or travel time may be necessary for meetings and events.
Key Functions
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Scrum Team and Product Management.
- Facilitate feature and technical refinement sessions, ensuring all requirements are thoroughly understood and documented.
- Write clear, concise, and comprehensive user stories for the scrum team's backlog.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to prioritize the backlog based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Conduct regular backlog grooming sessions to ensure the team is prepared for upcoming sprints.
- Work closely with software engineers, software engineers in test, and other stakeholders to ensure user stories are understood and implemented correctly.
- Gather and analyze data to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, preferably in an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience writing user stories and managing a product backlog.
- Proficiency in using agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Confluence).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

- Familiarity with PI Planning or similar methodologies for facilitating longer-range planning and alignment.
