SALARY: The salary range for this position is $113,790.69 to $163,388.56. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an experienced technical manager to assume a key leadership position as Assistant Director in the Information Technology Office with responsibility for all core infrastructure, networks, and related support services. The New Jersey Courts are an acknowledged nationwide leader in the application of technology toward improving the range and accessibility of services available to the public. A strategic thinking innovator will continue to guide the courts in its ongoing effort to maximize business efficiency, simplify operational processes, optimize performance, and minimize costs. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate will offer the skills and experience necessary to oversee a complex enterprise environment including IBM mainframe systems, a multi-tenant cloud infrastructure, over 1,000 distributed servers, and 14,000 personal computers at 650 networked locations servicing nearly 200,000 court staff and judges, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and federal agencies.
The Assistant Director will offer a strong focus on innovation and collaboration within the Judiciary and will promote constant invention and an ability to readily adapt and respond to dynamic business needs and evolving technology opportunities. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology direction, and proficiency in the oversight of multiple cross-functional project teams with an ability to appropriately advise and influence senior management and stakeholders.
Success in this position will require broad technical planning and problem-solving experience with excellent oral and written communications skills including an ability to explain technology solutions in business terms. The selected candidate must build positive relationships and partner with other organizations, secure sponsorship, and will minimally demonstrate competency in and a working knowledge of the following areas: Cloud architecture, IBM mainframe class systems, z/OS operating software and performance management, Intel Job and Unix server platforms and architecture, WebSphere, disk/tape/flash mass storage and backup systems, communications networks, public and private internet services, security/ access management/virus protection solutions, disaster recovery strategies, active directory, and mobile device and MDM technologies
REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for the required bachelor's degree. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience as indicated above -OR- a law degree may be substituted for two years of experience as indicated above.
