Why does the job exist?
This position will provide services to developmentally disabled and/or mentally ill individuals in a residential, home-based and community settings. Duties may include but are not limited to; daily living skills, therapeutic activities, and personal healthcare such as: bathing, dressing, grooming, housekeeping and homemaking tasks. Incumbent will keep records of services performed as well as individual's served condition and progress.
How does it get done?
The key responsibility for this position is to provide and mentor daily living skills while ensuring the health and safety of the individual served. Employee's in this position are required to provide these services in a 24/7 setting. This posting will be used to fill multiple vacancies throughout Valencia County.
Who are the customers?
Adult individuals who are developmentally disabled and could display behavioral challenges and/or medical challenges.
Ideal Candidate
Experience Working with People with Developmental Disabilities
Experience working with individuals who are mentally and physically disabled and/or display behavior challenges
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state laws, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Certification from the State of New Mexico or pass and receive a Defensive Driving Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) course.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting as well as in the community-based homes of the individual. Position requires the ability to lift/push/transfer and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 100 pounds with assistance. The incumbent may be exposed to unpredictable violent behavior of the individual. Daily driving is required to meet the needs for individuals served. Occasional overnight stay may be required. Specific geographic location for this position will vary depending on agency needs and utilization. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching are essential functions of this job.
