Job Posting for Adult Education Program Assistant (Revised) at New Mexico Junior College

The ABE Assistant shall report to the Director of Adult Basic Education. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Under close supervision, advises students of test scores and requirements to pass the High School Equivalence Test, as well as English as a Second Language. Assists students in establishing yearly goals and encouraging them to complete the program to reach their goals.
  • Assists students in setting academic goals; counsels’ students regarding program participation. 
  • Reviews pre-test scores.
  • Participates in HSE bi-monthly orientation. 
  • Conducts ESL registration. 
  • Maintains student records and files.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Skill in written and oral communication, in both English and Spanish required
  •  One (1) year of office or clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  
 In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

This position is funded by a grant. Continued employment will depend on grant funding.
