The Grants Senior Analyst will provide high-level support for the Senior Director for Grants and Contracts, Associate Vice President for Budget and Planning, and Chief Financial Officer for the oversight of budgeting and financial grants management tasks for the Garden. Responsible for the review of budgeting tasks within the Garden’s financial management system, the creation of ad-hoc excel reports for general analysis and grant reporting, and for communication with various departments to assist in the review of various budgeting needs.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs advanced level analysis of City, State and Federal grant programs
- Performs specialized analyses of the Garden’s overall headcount, salaries and fringe benefits for review of Senior level staff and for reconciliation with the VP of Human Resources
- Uses Garden’s financial management system for budget reconciliation, to generate reports
- Analyze numbers and trends for Budget to Actual oversight purposes
- Help prepare financial budgets for grants/awards; ensure compliance with New York City, State and Federal regulations
- Navigate City, State and Federal grant database sites and systems (grants.gov, eGMS, SAM.gov, etc).
- Provide on-going financial oversight of grants and contracts including but not limited to tracking of funds, evaluating expenditures, forecasting, preparation and submission of progress and final reports.
- Manage the communication and oversee administrative compliance for all sub-awards.
- Prepare and submit monthly reimbursement reports for government awarded grants and City/State appropriations.
- Provide guidance to Principal Investigator (PI) and Department Heads with preparation of allocations and salary adjustments on grant-funded projects.
- Provides written and Excel-based reports as needed for supervisory review
- Assist with reporting to state government grant funding for operating expenses
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience as a Budget Analyst in a not-for-profit or government organization; cultural institution experience preferred
- Fast learner; proactive; customer service oriented
- Ability to learn budgeting and general ledger computer systems and financial reporting tools quickly and independently
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Unit4 experience a plus
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to handle a multitude of tasks; Must have a professional manner and the ability to multitask under pressure
- Needs strong interpersonal and professional oral and written communication skills, and have the ability to function as a team player in a collaborative environment
- Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree preferred.
