Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under general supervision of the Director of Social Work. a Social Worker Level Ill or higher, and the unit coordinator. the Social Worker Level II provides
Major Duties:
Carries a caseload of those cases requiring a higher level of knowledge, skills and/or experience in individual, group and family psychotherapy.
Documents interventions in an appropriate and timely fashion according to departmental guidelines.
Participates in all departmental activities.
Completes all necessary reports.
May supervise and train subordinates.
May give work assignments to subordinates.
May evaluate work performances of subordinates.
May provide student supervision.
May arrange and/or provide coverage for subordinates or superiors.
Reads and reviews case documentation and countersigns when necessary.
May participate in the orientation of new staff.
Ensures staff compliance with departmental and other required policies and procedures.
Educative, didactic presentation where appropriate.
Case management and concrete services.
Liaison with other hospital services and units.
Outreach to community resources.
Interdisciplinary collaboration when necessary.
Intake assessment and screening.
Case presentations.
Timely and accurate record keeping: including treatment planning, progress notes and required correspondence for patient care.
Participation in regular on-going supervision.
Attend departmental meetings, conferences, social work meetings and Grand Rounds.
Make referrals to outside agencies.
Crisis intervention.
Home visits when appropriate.
Serve on department and hospital task force, and committees.
Participate in QA and UR activities.
Minimum Qualifications
For Assignment to Level II
1. Valid license as an LMSW issued by the NYSED; or
2. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED.

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL: MSW
EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED: Ability to operate typically office equipment; copier, fax, scanner, etc.
