JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Business Development provides broad leadership for reviewing, managing, and early stage decisioning of organic and in-bound strategic opportunities presented to the Bank. The Director will centralize the financial analysis, industry comparisons, relative value, and communications required when evaluating balance sheet re-structuring, capital markets instruments, and M&A opportunities. They will under directives provided by Executive Management actively engage outside organizations for deal & opportunity generation. The Director applies a high level of business and financial expertise managing multiple projects and relationships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Applies industry insight and financial expertise to identify and evaluate inbound and outbound business opportunities such as; growth/divest/restructure business, new business line or investment/partnership, capital instrument issuance, RWA/capital optimization and M & A.
  • Develop an organized process for coordinating and evaluating opportunities.
  • Manages the development of customized analytics that will include pro-forma analysis, discounted cash flow, and bottoms-up.
  • Builds and maintains executive level relationships with outside financial organizations to foster deal generation.
  • Evaluates and comprehends various financial statements and deal term sheets to determine appropriate analysis and metrics of relative value.
  • Develops detailed financial reporting for future archive while generating executive management reporting for various committees.
  • Leads a comprehensive analysis process to identify and considers the possible risks vs. rewards of all opportunities, including competition, regulations and compliance requirements.
  • As directed by executive management, leads negotiations to ensure the most equitable terms are offered to the Bank.
  • Creates and delivers Executive and Board level presentations when required.
  • Collaborates with internal partners at the appropriate time in the deal development.
  • Represents the Bank with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in Investment Banking or Business/Corporate Development.
  • Extensive experience in analyzing, negotiating and structuring large business deals.
  • Senior level investment banking experience.

  • In-depth financial industry insight.
  • Excellent knowledge of the financial and analytical requirements required to evaluate a variety of business opportunities.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Expert negotiation skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Excellent proposal development and presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills.
  • Computer literate with expert proficiency in internet navigation, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
