Job Description

Transformative role for top talent accounting/finance leaders looking for continued growth and progression opportunities in a large fortune 5 public Company, leading a team of individuals to support CVS Aetna’s Statutory Accounting Policy and Examinations team! You will have exposure to a vast spectrum of accounting areas which include Statutory Accounting Policy Initiatives, Audit, Financial Reporting and Examinations. This role provides extensive opportunity to partner with Aetna’s various business units, transform its statutory financial reporting process, work with its state regulators and examiners, and collaborate closely with its audit partners. 



Fundamental Components

Job responsibilities include leading a team of senior and staff accountants for the following major areas:

○ Participate in various aspects of the Statutory Rule making process, exert appropriate influence where needed to ensure positive outcomes for the enterprise in partnership with internal and external constituents

○ Keep track of emerging/new statutory rules and regulations for compliance with statutory filing requirements, this includes new SSAP's, changes to annual/quarterly statements and other NAIC requirements

○ Lead all aspects of state financial examination function as needed, examinations occur on either a three-year or five-year cycle depending on the governing state statutes

○ Liaise with external auditors for Annual Statutory Audits and assist in drafting standard and custom disclosures as needed for various legal entities

○ Assist in process of control deficiency identification and resolution during statutory audit process

○ Provide enterprise level Statutory Guidance for various critical initiatives

○ Experience leading teams, excellent communication presenting to executive leaders

○ Proficiency in using MS office and a track record of making improvements to processes

You will engage with key business partners and senior leaders to ensure compliance with all Statutory Reporting requirements. The candidate is expected to play an important role in leading the transformation of Aetna’s financial reporting processes to an automated, streamlined state. As a people leader, the candidate will be expected to develop and empower team members to help them reach their longer-term career goals.



Background Experience
Required Qualifications:
○ Minimum 10 or more years of progressive accounting, auditing and financial reporting experience
○ Minimum 5 years in the insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications:
○ Statutory accounting policy or general accounting policy experience


Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
