What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Math Teacher position at Newburyport High School?
To provide direct instruction to students in order to deliver Newburyport Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools.
Education and Experience
A minimum of 1-3 years of teaching high school mathematics (or applicable practicum experience).
A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in mathematics and/or related field.
Ability to work effectively with a diversity of learning styles and learners.
Skills, Competencies, and Responsibilities
Has experience teaching mathematics:Algebra and Geometry
Communicates consistently and effectively with parents, students, and colleagues.
Displays a deep appreciation for student-centered, engaging, and innovative teaching practices.
Regularly collaborates with colleagues concerning best practice in an effort to meet the learning needs of all students.
Is a self-directed individual who is solution oriented, embraces challenges, and displays a thorough work ethic.
