Position Title: Payroll Supervisor
Reports To: Payroll Manager
Location: Freeport, IL
Summary:
Responsible for supervising Payroll partners, ensuring that all payrolls are executed accurately, timely, and in compliance with government regulations and internal Company policies. Operates as the subject matter expert and acts as the escalation point to resolve issues.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises Payroll partners and backs up the manager as needed.
- Facilitates bi-weekly payroll team meetings and attends monthly HR Roundtable meetings to work on process improvements and efficiencies.
- Assist in monitoring workload and conducts timely performance evaluations of direct reports.
- Ensures team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes in line with organizational and personal development needs.
- Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with team members relating to payroll expertise.
- Optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching and counseling and implements workable solutions to business issues/problems with referral to management at the appropriate level.
- Escalate potential service issues to manager and works with manager to implement viable solutions.
- Participates in interview process for new hires and mentor’s payroll processors to assist them into achieving their career objectives.
- Defines standards and sustainable approaches within the operational framework.
- Trains team members on new or enhanced software and operational procedures and policies.
- Identify process improvements initiatives and define standards for new processes.
- Provides guidance and resources to the payroll partners for daily procedures using automated systems to produce accurate and timely payroll for a multiple entity organization.
- Planning and facilitating events to encourage socialization, relaxation, and recreation.
- Assists manager with modifying/preparing new pay configurations including testing new pay codes, deduction codes or absence management plans in a complex software system.
- Completes special projects in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintains partner confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

Required Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a business or accounting related field
Minimum of three to five years of experience of processing multi-state payroll
Supervisory experience preferred
Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of SAP HCM or related HRIS
Experience with timekeeping and payroll processing systems.
Advanced computer skills; proficient MS Office, especially Excel
Prior experience implementing or upgrading systems.
