Title: Sourcing Leader

The Sourcing Leader assists with the procurement of all assigned sourcing needs within their category, striving to purchase at the lowest possible overall cost, consistent with desired quality and service levels. The purpose of this role is to support the management team in creating and maintaining value through cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, supply base optimization, leveraging Newell’s scale, as well as deployment of effective controls and processes.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of strategies for the raw material categories utilized in the production of corrugated packaging
- Research, identify, and qualify best-value sources of supply while also maintaining a focus on quality and supply continuity using RFx activities
- Deliver 3-5% year-over-year productivity (cost reduction) goals for corrugated-based packaging
- Increase Days Payable Outstanding (DPO) in accordance with working capital objectives
- Reduce lead times in the category in totality and as required by stakeholders based on business needs
- Support supplier relationship management activities (QBRs, weekly meetings, productivity/innovation opportunities, etc.)
- Maintain an understanding of evolutions in the Domestic and International packaging supply markets
- Set up and maintain accurate costing information in SAP and administer SAP requirements
- Coordinate with the supply chain department to ensure that suppliers adhere to on-time delivery (OTD) and quality standards. Take appropriate actions to maintain on-time deliveries of approved materials
- Coordinate with the supplier and planner to minimize excess and obsolete inventory
- Assist with leading data integrity efforts (spend data gathering/verification, RFx analytics, etc.)
- Assist with the implementation of different supply agreements (MSA, MOU, LOI, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, packaging/engineering, supply chain or related field
- 2 to 4 years purchasing experience in packaging direct materials is preferred
- Intermediate negotiation skills with a focus on a data-driven approach
- Intermediate understanding of the source-to-pay process and supply contracts
- Knowledge and experience with various packaging markets, suppliers, and supply/demand forces
- Strong Project Management skills; very well organized with the ability to push tasks to deadlines
- Ability to solve basic supplier/stakeholder problems with minimal guidance
- Experience in SAP, MS Office, Windows is required; Expert-level Excel experience is preferred
- Excellent presentation skills; comfortable communicating and fielding questions from colleagues in leadership positions; experience and comfort with difficult supplier conversations
- Ability to succeed with little supervision and effectively implement guidance and feedback
- Strong commitment to the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
- Professional working proficiency in Spanish preferred
- Ability to travel domestically about 10-20% of time
