SUMMARY:
The Accounting Manager will supervise and develop the Americas accounting team, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial data for Afton Chemical Corporation and affiliates’ operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. The immediate focus includes oversight of accounting for leases and fixed assets and managing the accounting teams in Latin America.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 10 accountants, including three direct reports, in multiple locations
- Participate in the development of cost standards for inventory
- Oversee the accounting for fixed assets, leases in the Americas
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process
- Ensure accurate quantity and valuation of inventory and cost of sales
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports
- Respond to internal and external requests, including working with external auditors
- Oversee compliance with US GAAP, all tax obligations, and statutory audits of Latin American subsidiaries
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies for assigned processes
- Design and review reports to meet various internal requirements
- Coordinate with Financial Planning & Analysis team for budget development
- Support user acceptance testing on IT projects and participate in design and testing of future SAP enhancement projects
- Complete special projects and support corporate initiatives, as required
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience including 3 years in public accounting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
- Supervisory experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA designation
- Experience with SAP ERP system
- Experience with accounting for a manufacturing entity
