Responsibilities
The Music Therapist facilitates programming that provides healing through music- based therapy techniques that emphasize clients to explore their feelings, improve their emotional wellbeing and problem-solving skills.
Essential Duties:
- Collaborate with Clinical Director or designee to identify and incorporate music activities for clients.
- Interact with milieu and encourage participation in sessions.
- Facilitate individual and group sessions as assigned.
- Demonstrate practice and techniques and safely guide clients.
- Facilitate passive listening and participatory programs that include playing, singing, and creating music.
- Design musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve psychological, physical and social health.
- Visually assess clients during musical interventions and measure effectiveness of sessions.
- Communicate with clinicians and direct care staff as needed.
- Provide weekly progress updates to treatment team as needed.
- Complete documentation timely and according to established standards.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy required.
- Master’s degree in clinical, expressive arts, music therapy or related field
- Board registered (APC, LAPC, ASW, AMFT) or licensed in the state in which services are provided preferred.
- CBMT credentialed as Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) preferred, pursuing credential required.
- Experience working with young adults/adolescents in a behavioral health setting
