What are the responsibilities and job description for the Procurement Supervisor (Purchasing/Buyer/Manufacturing) position at Newrest?
Newrest ATL has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Procurement Supervisor. This individual is responsible for orchestrating all activities needed to ensure the production facility has the right amount of material inputs and labor at all times for continuous and seamless production. Responsibilities will range from managing the high-level procurement and workforce strategy to day-to-day operational management.
Leads the procurement team:
- In coordination with the Operations Managers, makes high-level decisions on the food procurement strategy.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Procurement team
- Reviews procurement metrics to hit targets, maintain appropriate inventory levels, and avoid waste
- Ensures adherence to procurement best-practices
Oversee workforce and production planning:
- Oversees the creation and management of weekly and daily production plans to ensure production targets are met and coincide with incoming food orders.
- Leads the creation of shift-level production plans, including working with the Operations
Manager to assign supervisors and leads to tasks and to determine the number of associates needed for each functional activity
- Minimizes downtime by maintaining a full view of production activities in progress and by proactively spotting problem-solving issues in advance of production shut-downs
- Identifies potential obstacles to completing menus efficiently and meeting production targets
Manages labor procurement:
- Develops labor procurement strategy to effectively match hiring to variable production needs
- Partners with the HR team to ensure hiring targets are hit and to course-correct if they are not
- Calculates the cost impact of using pre-portioned ingredients versus portioning from bulk.
- Partners with Operations Managers to plan utilization of all automation to assess the labor cost of portioning from bulk
- Works with operations managers and HR team to maintain the accuracy of individual schedules
- Builds redundant processes and cross-trains individuals to ensure the continuous integrity of the scheduling and attendance processes
Qualifications:
- 1-3 leadership experience in a fast-paced environment and a track record of leading by example
- 1-3 years of experience procuring materials in a manufacturing environment and working with third-party suppliers as a client
- Interpersonal skills to work with team members across functions and in both production and corporate environments
- Analytical proficiency to lead complex workforce and production planning to meet variable needs of the business
- Ability to think outside-the-box when identifying and recommending procurement, workforce and labor planning, and attendance and scheduling improvements
- Ability to react on the fly to unforeseen procurement and workforce planning scenarios as they arise
- Computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, PowerPoint)
- Strong ability to track details and to keep track of projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Results-oriented attitude; able to multi-task and get things done
- Willingness to embrace change and adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment
