POSITION: Controller
DEPARTMENT: Accounting/Finance
REPORTS TO: Chief Operations Officer
JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for managing the Accounting
Department.
E D U CA T I ON AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferably in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation preferred.
2. Fluency in English.
3. Five plus years of accounting/finance experience.
4. QuickBooks knowledge preferred.
5. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, proficient in Microsoft Word and other windows
based applications.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Knowledge of modern business administration and business office procedures and methods
and their applications.
2. Ability to pass drug test.
3. Ability to work under pressure; meet inflexible deadlines; set priorities; deal diplomatically
with difficult individuals; ability to manage multiple programs; and adherence to the highest
ethical standards essential.
4. Ability to work independently and with minimal daily direction.
5. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management,
and external agencies.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication
7. Strong organization with attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Any and all duties assigned by management with an emphasis on the following:
ACCOUNTING :
1. Supervise accounting department.
2. Monitor and analyze department work flow to maintain efficient procedures while assuring a
high level of accuracy.
3. Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly
basis.
4 . Oversee Account Payable function which includes entering invoices/bills into QuickBooks. Ensure bills are paid according to established protocols.
5. Update fixed asset software for new additions and disposals each quarter adjusting
depreciation expense as necessary.
6. Ensure timely monthly reporting for P&L’s for all business units including variance analysis of
results.
7. Ensure all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled monthly including cash, inventory,
prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payables and intercompany accounts.
8. Prepare monthly reporting for optical department.
9. Prepare monthly physician’s reports.
10. Calculate physician bonuses and contract labor payments.
11. Review and approve quarterly bonuses.
15. Prepare tangible property tax returns for CPA firm’s signature
16. Review property tax assessments and schedule payment of related invoices.
17. Review and respond to all tax notices (IRS & State of FL)
18. Work with retained CPA firm to ensure a clean and timely year end and tax return preparation
for all personal and business units.
19. Review A/R on a monthly basis and monitor collection activities performed by billing
department.
