At NewYork-Presbyterian, the Ophthalmology Practice is an integral component of Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. It is a multispecialty practice providing consultative services which include general ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, contact lens/low vision, cornea and external disease, eye muscle, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, orbital and plastic, retina, uveitis and diagnostic services-visual field testing. Ophthalmic Assistant – Full Time – Days
Work with state of the art equipment and learn from the best in a fast-paced, challenging environment where you can grow and develop your skills. This is a technical, patient facing position. On a daily basis, the Ophthalmic Assistant performs a variety of clinical and clerical functions to assist practitioners and management in daily clinic operations. You will have the opportunity to assist in exam and treatment rooms, take readings and record results for visual acuity, explain tests to patients, clean instruments and equipment, maintain medical supplies.
This is a full-time day shift position predominately working between Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 5:00pm at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
Preferred Criteria
At least two years of ophthalmology experience
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or GED
Six months to one year ophthalmology experience or Medical Assistant experience
