General Summary
Works directly with managed services customers to set-up and maintain network systems on a regular basis by on-site visits. Remotely monitors customer systems to guarantee maximum uptime. As needed, monitors and updates customer systems for current OS and service pack versions to keep the customer base current and secure. Repairs and educates customers in system operation and administration, and completes necessary paperwork associated in providing quality service to Nex-Tech customers.
Essential Job Functions
- Installs and configures workstation, server and network solutions, along with routers, switches, network analysis, firewall installation and remote management services. Performs standard system administration duties including server installation, system/application installation and patch management, Windows issue resolution, log analysis and others. Configures, tests and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and services including switches, routers, firewalls, and VPN.
- Provides on-site and telephone technical support for Nex-Tech customers.
- Works directly with internal and managed services customers with regularly scheduled maintenance for troubleshooting and maintaining network systems for customers that have contracted Nex-Tech as their IT department. Monitors customer networks through remote maintenance to allow Nex-Tech to be proactive instead of reactive when issues arise, which will help guarantee maximum uptime for the customer. Monitors customer networks’ OS versions and service pack levels to help guarantee that the customer has the most current security pack and virus definition level available.
- Tracks time and expenses for billing purposes.
- Research applicable new and alternative technologies.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management. Engages in regular and periodic reviews with supervisor. Accepts direction with a positive attitude.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Knowledge and understanding of computer technology and its associated lingo.
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing software and troubleshooting procedures.
- Knowledge of basic electrical and electronic circuitry.

- Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Ability to kneel, crawl, and stoop well enough to test and repair equipment in cramped areas.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret computer reports and printouts.
- Ability to organize and prioritize and handle multiple work assignments.
- Ability to complete work accurately under time constraints and deadlines.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license
- Ability to function effectively as a team player.
Education and Experience
High school diploma plus one to three years of experience in computer/peripheral and network support. A certification or Network certification or equivalent required.
Background Checks
