Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Linux embedded developer with expertise in Ubuntu to join our team. The Linux developer will be responsible for implementing, configuring, securing, and maintaining Ubuntu Linux based servers and systems. The ideal candidate should understand network protocols, security, and Ubuntu server administration.

U.S. Citizen a required qualification.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:
Ubuntu Server Administration:
Installation and configuration:

Install and configure Ubuntu Linux Servers and services including web server, databases and other applications.
Plan and deploy Ubuntu-based servers and services as part of the network architecture.
Implement and maintain security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems and user access controls to protect Ubuntu servers and systems.
Apply security patches and updates to Ubuntu servers and network devices.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and software installations on Ubuntu servers.

Development skills:

Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and virtualization solutions like Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) for embedded applications that require isolation and scalability.
The ability to create and use scripts for automating common tasks in embedded Linux development.
Proficiency in debugging tools and techniques for embedded Linux,
Experience with hardware initialization, kernel porting, and board bring-up for new embedded platforms.
Knowledge of Linux networking protocols, configuration, and socket programming for embedded systems that require network connectivity.
Strong knowledge of the Linux operating system, including its architecture, file systems, kernel and device drivers.
Requires strong knowledge of Linux distribution Ubuntu.
Familiarity with package managers like dpkg and RPM, as well as the creation and management of software packages.
Proficiency with cross-compilation tools and build systems like GCC, Make, CMake, and autotools for embedded Linux development.
Knowledge of boot loader development and maintaining Board Support Package Development.
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in embedded linux development, such as C and C . Knowledge of scripting languages like python and shell scripting.
Experience in developing and modifying Linux kernel code, as well as creating and customizing device drivers for specific hardware components.
Knowledge of Linux networking protocols, configuration, and socket programming for embedded systems that require network connectivity.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate records and documentation of server configurations, install procedures and policies.
Generate reports on network performance, security, and capacity planning.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Preferred
Proven experience as a developer with a strong emphasis on Ubuntu-based systems.
Proficiency in Ubuntu server administration.
Scripting experience desired (Bash, Python, etc.).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
